      The Cave by Dragonzzzz
I got an email from a friend of mine that said he would send me some of his journal entries, from a trip he took last summer. He even said I could embellish them, but to make sure I change the names to protect the guilty. The trip involved him and another friend also, and together they make up a brains and brawns team. The brainy guy is a spelunker and amateur archeologist, and the other is the type who likes anything new, and different. Since exploring caves was something new for him, they decided to take a vacation in New Mexico to check out some of the action there. This is an excerpt of the first entry… Arrived late last night, and I was too tired to write, but this should make up for it. We spent well over half the day looking at a few common caves, but Ron was bored so we decided to look for something outside the guide. While climbing around I slipped and nearly fell fifty feet probably to my death. I managed to cling to a rock and as I was scrambling over it, I could plainly see that a small opening lay behind the rock, much to small to fit through. Still it appeared to be an opening to a very nice looking project. We spent a couple of hours modifying the entryway and finally had something large enough to fit through. After, doing sort of a reverse shinnying into the cave, we found it very cramped, but also much deeper than anything I’ve ever been in before. It also appeared to widen further down, even to the point were we could stand, but it was obvious that it would take maybe an hour or two to get to that section. We decided to come back tomorrow mourning to explore it more thoroughly. One thing is, that in the distance several hundred feet on, the cave turned completely out of sight. This is a little uncommon for that area, but this part should have been out of range of our lighting completely, but there was what appeared to be a slight glow or light coming from around the twist. As we were leaving, Ron asked if I could hear something, and I sort of laughed and pointed to my hearing aid. He knows I have needed these since birth, and hearing is best described as my weakest perception, but still he insisted he could hear something. I told him it was common in larger caves, either wind or water and so it ended there Strange thing was for the rest of the evening and night, we both could swear we were being watched, and I mean all night. It was downright eerie, and almost amusing to see Ron bugged by something; you know how he is, Mr. Tough-guy if ever there was one. Still it bothered me also, and the feeling persisted on late into the night, even as I write this… They do find something, but that is after the ‘twist.’
