Rank This! Simplifies Search Engine Tracking

March 26, 1997

(ORLANDO, FLORIDA) - GlobalMedia Design this week announced the launch of Rank This! on the web at http://www.rankthis.com/. Rank This! is a free online tool that empowers webmasters to pinpoint their sites' ranking in searches on popular Internet search engines such as Yahoo!, Lycos and Hotbot.

"Webmasters are concerned about how their sites rank in the search engines, as this ranking provides the clearest measure of how easily potential customers can find their website," says Brian Clark, President of GlobalMedia Design and producer of Rank This! "Researching those rankings is a dreary and monotonous task, and dreary, monotonous tasks are just begging to be automated."

Visitors to the site can examine their rankings on 8 major search engines on any search phrase, revealing their exact rank (if it is in the top 200 results) and which sites rank in the top ten. Hours of manual research through busy search engines are reduced to a few minutes of exploration.

Rank This! also includes a guide to search engine promotion and tips for improving a site's ranking - developed in conjunction with John R. DeUlloa, president of internet promotion firm PromoteOne and author of the book "The Step By Step Guide to Successfully Promoting a Website". DeUlloa and Clark also maintain an on-site discussion group on search engine promotion to help answer questions and offer advice to Rank This! users.

Under development since summer of 1996, Rank This! is a free service requiring no registration, subscription or sign up. "We intend to keep this a free service for the Internet community," explains Clark, who feels comfortable the site will generate sufficient advertiser interest to support its operations.

GlobalMedia Design (GMD) is a privately held cyberspace application and venture development firm founded in 1994, with offices in Orlando and New York City. Their Rover Search Service, a related agent system used to generate custom researched website contact lists, earned the Microsoft Network Business Site of the Week (May, 1996) and is used by such clients as Starting Point, Howard Rheingold's Electric Minds and the San Jose Mercury News.
