2/26/2002: Variety Raves About NOTHING SO STRANGE
Variety reporter Scott Foundas was able to catch a screening of NOTHING SO STRANGE during SlamDance and his insightful review of the film was printed in the February 24 edition of Variety. Calling NOTHING SO STRANGE a "crackling good movie" he also describes it as a "smart, aware, polemical work concealed beneath a surface so playful -- a "mockumentary" approach handled as expertly as Christopher Guest's films -- that you don't even realize you're learning anything." Thank you Scott! As far as reviews go, it doesn't get much better than that!
1/10/2002: NOTHING SO STRANGE World Premiere on Sunday!
NOTHING SO STRANGE will have its World Premiere screening this Sunday, January 13th, at 8 pm. The screening will be held at the Silver Mine as a special screening for the 2002 Slamdance Film Festival. Hope to see you there!
1/10/2002: New Wave of Interest for NOTHING SO STRANGE
NOTHING SO STRANGE has been attracting quite a bit of press attention again, with The Drudge Report leading this new wave interest. The L.A. Times and New York Post quickly followed suit with their own coverage. The Orlando connection was not lost on either the Orlando Sentinel or the Orlando Weekly and both the Seattle papers, the Seattle Times and The Seattle Post-Intelligencer, covered NOTHING SO STRANGE on the same day. Fox News (television) and Time magazine have also run pieces on the film and CNN is set to interview us at Park City. Oh my!
12/19/2001: NOTHING SO STRANGE At Slamdance 2002
It's official -- NOTHING SO STRANGE (the film project formerly-known as "MacArthur Park") will have its world premiere screening January at the 2002 Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. We're currently scheduled for a debut screening on January 13th at 8PM, with a follow-up screen at 12:30 PM on January 17th. Keep your eye on the new NOTHING SO STRANGE website for upcoming details.
12/5/2001: Meah Completes First Series
Johnny Meah's first Czar of Bizarre series of limited edition lithographs is complete and available to the public. WORLD OF WONDERS, a gaff banner depicting a variety of quirky characters, finishes out the series which also includes BABY IRENE, NATE EAGLE'S HOLLYWOOD MIDGETS, and the hugely popular headless pin-up gal, ANATOMICAL VENUS.
Released to the public one at a time over a period of months, the lithographs have sold well. The site, still in it's infancy, continues to receive praise from Johnny's fans while attracting new Meahites every day.
11/26/2001: Eugene to Juror Perrier Prize
indieWIRE Editor in Chief ene Hernandez been given the honor of sitting on the jury for the Perrier Bubbling Under Award for First Time Feature Film Directors. He and fellow jurors John Sloss, Brad Anderson and Rose Troche will pick the winning director from a line-up of five films. The finalist were selected from five different regional film festivals. Along with industry recognition, the award comes with a $50,000 grant to be applied to the winners next film.
