Although it does not currently dominate the Web (losing out to the more immediately profitable information and entertainment endeavors launched by gold-rush-fevered corporations everywhere), community is one the most valuable features of the Internet as a medium. The new hybrid of media that we are exploring - community publishing - embraces this person-to-person potential by turning over the production of content to virtually any member of a community with the basic language skills and the willingness and enthusiasm to share their perspective. Really, this is akin to people chatting over backyard fences - only with the equivalent of a global bullhorn.
