Since our earliest days as the Radiation Group in 1994, software and application development have been an intergal part of GMD Studios' focus on what makes the Web a unique medium. From building online communities to analyzing incoming hyperlinks to managing dynamic publishing systems, GMD Studios built the tools we needed to power our own Web publishing strategies.
We've always kept an eye to building our technology in a modular fashion to maximize its potential as a "toolbox" to build even more elaborate tools from -- so it was a natural for us to provide these same solutions to other online publishers and development firms facing similar challenges. This remains an important "spill over" factor of GMD Studios' experimental style: allowing other clients to affordably benefit from the research and development of our own brands with customizable technology that deploys in minutes.
Those solutions, which we collectively marketed under the brand name
Radiation Siteware, today power over 1,000 different sites including those
run by our own development clients, and by such notable siteware clients as
PBS Online, Panasonic, Oven Digital, iXL, and New Line Cinema.
As our toolset became more and more tailored to unique approaches, they
became more and more difficult to "shrinkwrap" for general use. In late
2000, we decided to suspend online sales of our Siteware tools (although
they're still the core of much of our own properties and those of our
clients.) To keep our siteware fans happy though, we still offer free
downloads on a number of our popular freeware titles.
