While GMD Studios has more typically been involved with commercial services as part of "special project" and "special needs" teams, our experience with developing, incubating and publishing online brands has made us sought after by other companies to take broader project management roles as "contract publishers." These are brands that receive as much TLC as we give our own brands ... and that we're just as proud of as our own.
ifcRANT
In 2000 and 2001, while our compatriots at indieWIRE partnered with Cablevision's Independent Film Channel on the publishing of ifcRANT Magazine (a relationship which still continues,) GMD Studios collaborated with IFC and Bravo's new media divisions to bring that same spirit of independent film to the Web through ifcRANT.com.
As part of that print/Web/broadcast collaboration, ifcRANT brought not only content from the print magazine and interactive access to IFC's broadcast schedule, but also exclusive content available only on the Web, from indie directors (Kevin Smith, Jim Jarmusch, John Waters) and stars (Dennis Leary, Nick Nolte, Janeane Garafalo ) ranting about their personal pet peeves to behind-the-scenes access at premieres for films such as "Girlfight", "Spring Forward" and "Pollock". In 2001, ifcRANT.com was absorbed into other IFC/Bravo entities but much of the content continues to be made available through those entities.
